Example of return to Nigeria

Joe

In 2008 Joe (not his real name) returned to Lagos in Nigeria, after spending 8 years living as an undocumented migrant in the Netherlands. Joe’s application came to us via an African diaspora organization in the Netherlands. His request for help related to setting up a plumbing business in Lagos. After he arrived his brother in law, who already has a similar business, told him about his experiences. In the period immediately after his return Joe also worked for his brother in law. He refreshed his skills and gained a good impression of his possibilities. With our partner organization in Lagos he completed a business plan and with our financial support he was able to invest in setting up his own business.
