Country information
Mongolia has an area of 1,6 million square kilometres and has China and the Russian Federation as neighbours. The capital is Ulaanbaatar. Mongolia has almost 2,7 million inhabitants. Approximately one third of the population lives in Ulaanbaatar. The rest of Mongolia is scarcely sparsely populated with nomadic herders who migrate seasonally with their herds and live in tents called Ger or Yurts. Mongolian is one of the Ural-Asian languages. Dialects of Mongolian are also spoken in China and the Russian Federation. One third of the population lives in poverty.
Partner organization
Caritas Mongolia
On arrival in Mongolia MBT provides returnees with reintegration support through its partner organization. Upon arrival the client receives a financial contribution. This sum is not given in cash but is spent under supervision of the partner organization on providing the means necessary for building a sustainable future in Mongolia.
In Mongolia MBT works together with the organization Caritas Mongolia who have years of experience in assisting returnees from various European countries. Caritas Mongolia is based in Ulaanbaatar and offers returnees economic and social support tailored to their needs. This includes initial reception, support in finding employment or establishing their own business and assistance in accessing education. In addition returnees can be referred to specialized healthcare services. Although based in the capital they can also offer support in other regions.
