Country information
With a surface area of 10.908 square kilometers Kosovo is approximately one quarter the size of the Netherlands. To the North West Kosovo borders on Montenegro. In the West and South it borders on Albania and Macedonia respectively. Kosovo is divided into five regions and 30 municipalities. The total population of Kosovo is approximately two million persons, of whom 300.000 live in the capital Pristina. More than half the population is under the age of 25. Ethnic Albanians make up approximately 88% of the population. Around 7% are ethnic Serbs. The official languages are Albanian and Serbian.
Partner organization
Mother Theresa Foundation
On arrival in Kosovo MBT provides reintegration support through its partner organization. Upon arrival the client receives a financial contribution. This sum is not given in cash but is spent under supervision of the partner organization on providing the means necessary for building a sustainable future in Kosovo.
In Kosovo MBT works together with the organization Mother Theresa Foundation. This is a diaspora organization focused on development assistance. The Mother Theresa Foundation is based in Pristina and offers returnees individualized economic and social support. This includes initial reception, support in finding employment or establishing their own business and assistance in accessing education. In addition returnees can be referred to specialized healthcare services.
