Country information

Brazil is a large and extremely varied country. The inhabitants of Brazil have their roots in many different countries. The country has great natural diversity, a dynamic economy and a rich cultural heritage. Nonetheless, Brazil also has a very unequal distribution of wealth and regional inequality. Brazil is the largest country in South America and is the fourth largest country in the world. The country has an area of 8,5 million square kilometers (approximately that of Europe and 200 times that of the Netherlands). It borders on ten South American countries. Brazil has 20% of the world’s biodiversity. Brazil’s 182 million inhabitants give it the fourth largest population in the world. The majority of the population is young, 30% is younger than 15 and 64% is aged between 15 and 65 years of age. Brazil is a federal republic, with 26 states and one federal district where Brasilia the capital city is found. The official language is Portuguese.

Partner organization 

Instituto Migraçoes e Direitos Humanos (IMDH)

On arrival in Brazil MBT provides reintegration support through its partner organization. Upon arrival the client receives a financial contribution. This sum is not given in cash but is spent under supervision of the partner organization on providing the means necessary for building a sustainable future in Brazil.

In Brazil MBT works together with IMDH. The organization offer returnees individualized economic and social support. This includes initial reception, support in finding employment or establishing their own business, and assistance in accessing education. In addition returnees can be referred to a specialized healthcare organization.
